Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms govern your use of chinesenames.io and any name suggestions, reports or PDF files you receive from us. By using the service or completing a purchase, you agree to them.
1. What we provide
Chinese Names is a naming service for people who want a Chinese name. You enter an English name and a few preferences; we suggest two-character Chinese names and, if you buy one, write a report about the name you chose.
Suggestions are generated from a curated corpus of surnames, characters and classical poetry. They are cultural and editorial suggestions, not legal, medical or financial advice.
2. Accounts and access
You do not need an account to use the free generator. Paid purchases are delivered as a private access link tied to the email address you use at checkout.
Keep that link private. Anyone with the link can open the report it belongs to.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in US dollars (or the currency displayed at checkout) and are one-time charges, not subscriptions.
Payments are processed by our merchant of record, FastSpring. FastSpring handles payment processing, invoicing, sales tax and VAT. We never see or store your card details.
4. Delivery
Digital products are delivered immediately after payment. If your report does not appear, open the access page and enter the email you paid with, or contact us.
5. Refunds
Because reports are digital and delivered instantly, we generally do not refund a report that has already been generated and viewed.
If you were charged twice, never received access, or the report failed to generate, contact us and we will fix it or refund you. Nothing here limits rights you have under applicable consumer law.
Refunds are issued through FastSpring to the original payment method.
6. Acceptable use
You may use the names and reports for your own personal or professional identity, and may share your own report.
You may not resell the service, scrape or bulk-download our corpus, copy the report templates for a competing product, or use the service to harass anyone.
7. No guarantee of uniqueness
Chinese names are not unique. Other people may already use, or later choose, the same characters. We cannot guarantee that a name is unused, registrable as a trademark, or acceptable in every cultural or legal context.
8. Intellectual property
The site, the corpus structure, the report templates and our written text belong to us or our licensors. Classical poems quoted in reports are in the public domain.
You receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the report for your own naming purposes.
9. Liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the product concerned.
We are not liable for indirect losses, or for decisions you make about your name, brand or legal identity.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the version in force is the one published on this page at the time of your purchase.
These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, with disputes subject to the courts of Jiangxi. Questions: support@chinesenames.io.
